Strampalati (boig) is what you become after spending a lot of time in the scorching sun of southern Italy. In this eagerness to transmit the essence of the South, we relive an Italy of yesteryear, recovering something of this arid land in homes, like her, proud and hard. Traditions, emigration, death and superstitions are lived in a constant duality between drama and comedy, gravity and lightness, death and life constantly exalted. Strampalati is at the crossroads of various artistic expressions.
Graulhet, France
Circ'Hulon was born in 1981 from the meeting of a circus artist, Jacques Hulon (Gruss, Pinder, Aligre) and an actress, Sophie Thiery.
The first show, "Asphodèle funambule", focuses on the loneliness of a person driven to madness. With the elegance, lightness and tension of a wire hanging at great height, the tightrope walker comes to life in the face of death.
From 1983 to 1998, the second show, "Circ'Hulon, y'a tout à voir", is a tribute to Fellini's film La Strada and to this philosophy of life. It is an open-air fairground show that, thanks to its lightness and autonomy, is performed in villages at a rate of 150 performances per year.
